The Yorkshire Society, a large group of
members and corporate members, seeks to honour the achievements of distinguished
people born in Yorkshire by erecting Yorkshire Rose Plaques in places with which
they were associated. Up to now these plaques have celebrated famous Yorkshire
men. On 31 March the Society came to the Bar Convent to set up on the front wall
a plaque for Mary Ward, the first woman to be so honoured. This fine plaque,
engraved by John Shaw on blue Welsh slate, has been much admired. (Thanks to CJ British Province for article)

Asilah Celebrating
10 years! In
1997, the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary decided
to face a new challenge: to move to a mission
in Asilah,
Morocco,
with everything that that
would entail. A different country, a different culture
and above all a different religion. It’s
now ten years since the first sisters left to go
there, initially for two years. These have been
years of prayer and work , sharing life with the
local people and the small Christian community of
Asilah. And
now it’s time to celebrate it!

World Social Forum – Nairobi 2007 –
Another World is Possible!
A GROUNDSWELL OF GOODWILL. I
was invited to represent the Loreto Schools in South
Africa at the World Social
Forum in Nairobi
from 20 – 25 January 2007. This was to be followed by a two day meeting of all
the Loreto associates and IBVM sisters to plan a way forward for their Justice,
Peace and Integrity of Creation movement. So the context in which I attended
was that of Mary Ward Spirituality; the IBVM commitment to the Millennium Development
Goals and the Earth Charter; Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation(JPIC);
Education and the IBVM’s representation as the UN.

us, that may be helpful for some in marking "Mary Ward Week" - the
week between our founder's date of birth and date of death. Or you may
use the novena at other times.
