related activities in Canada, has veered from its course. I am currently caught up
in wondrously warm May days and, at times, in purring at the beauty of
blossoming trees and flowers, particularly striking in Central Park. And

Australian Ring of Fire March 2007. Refugees:Unfortunately
the issue of refugees is once again in the Australian news. Last month 83 Sri
Lankans were picked up in a boat off Christmas Island (part of Australia) and incarcerated in the
detention centre there.

an initiative of the Loreto JPIC Committee, to promote public discussion of key
social issues. Mary Ward Justice Lecture – Making Indigenous Poverty History. The Make Poverty History Campaign,
associated with the Millennium Development Goals, inspired the Australian
National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ecumenical Commission to adopt
the theme Make Indigenous Poverty
History. The Loreto Justice, Peace
and Integrity of Creation Committee took this as the focus for 2005-2006.

facing him on the floor is a large piece of paper. He appears to be ‘doodling. ’‘We
have a crisis,’ he says, not looking up from his paper. I think to myself, ‘If
