We pray with the Church and the World

“Jesus at the sight of the crowds was moved with pity.” If we are to promote development in its fullness our own “gaze” upon humankind has to be measured against that of Christ. Fasting and almsgiving together with prayer, are suitable means for us to become conformed to Jesus “gaze”.

(Extract from Pope Benedict’s Lenten message)

For the International Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development. May they make policies for securing and improving access to land for the poor. Approximately ¾ of the world’s poor live in rural areas.

(7th – 10th March: Porto Alegre, Brasil)

We pray with the Institute

For all of us in the Institute. May we dare to be open to the Spirit, exploring new patterns and trying new ways, so that we may see more clearly our own journey with all humankind as a journey of Hope.

For the Social Conference in Allahabad (India). May our CJ sisters continue to be open to the Spirit and to the needs of our world today.

(28th  Feb – 15th March)

We call on you Holy Women, who went before us, channels of the Word of God, to intercede for us, so that we may be given the grace to become women of vision and courage for our time, for the honour and glory of God. Amen

(8th March: International Women’s Day)

One Small Voice

“Nothing is more practical than finding God,
that is, than falling in love in a quite absolute final way.
What you are in love with,
what seizes your imagination,
will affect everything.
It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning,
what you will do with your evenings,
how you spend your weekends,
what you read, what you know that breaks your heart,
and what amazes you with joy and gratitude.
Fall in love, stay in love, and it will decide everything.”

Father Arrupe SJ
