We pray with the Church and the world

For the Media. May it develop soundly as a network for communication and cooperation, helping all to become more aware of the dignity of the human person, more responsible and more open to others especially the neediest and the weakest members of society.

(Extract from the message of Pope Benedict XVI for International Communications Day 17th May)

Let us support by our prayer and where possible by joining those who will participate in the “Fight Hunger: Walk the World” campaign - a global effort to end child hunger.

(21st May: Fight hunger: Walk the World)

In 1889 the International Socialist Congress in Paris settled May 1st  to celebrate across the world the achievement and hopes of workers. May we do our work with love, since work is love made visible.

(1st May: St. Joseph the Worker)

We pray with the Institute

Four years ago, on May 19th 2002, Mary Wright wrote a letter challenging us to have  the “courage to move”. She reminded us of Mary Ward’s spirit of freedom and trust  in her capacity to make new foundations eagerly in distant lands. She spoke  also of Teresa Ball’s courage and energy in sending her young sisters out on long  and dangerous journeys. All the Provinces and Regions committed themselves to a  process of research and exploration. This process has led us to bring the Gospel of  Jesus and the Charism of Mary Ward to many more people. Let us pray for and  support one another in the next stages of our journey. We ask Mary Ward, Teresa  Ball and the great foundresses of our Institute to fire us with their passion for God and  their passion for humanity wherever we are.

(Adapted from Mary Wright’s letter 2002)

19th May: Anniversary of Teresa Ball

One Small Voice

Mary of the Magnificat,

deepen our gratitude

for God’s love for us

in all the experiences of our lives.

Mary of the Word,

help us to savour and relish

the Good News of your Son

who speaks to us through the liturgy, news, events, friends, and monotony of our lives.

Mary of the Wayside,

as you hurried over  the hills of Judea to bring joy and service

to Elizabeth,

help us to be messengers of hope

to all we meet.

(31st May: Feast of the Visitation)
