We pray with the Church and the world
During World Mission Day may we realise more
deeply that each of us can be a witness to love, which is the soul of mission.
Serving the Gospel is not a solitary adventure, but a shared commitment,
involving those on the front line and those who are at home. (Pope
Benedict XVI: Message for Mission Sunday.)
For the millions of people who suffer famine:
May we realise that famine is not only due to geographical or climatic
situations, but it is also caused by ideologies and economical structures whose
only goal is profit. (12 October: International Food Day)
For all the painters, poets, writers,
musicians. May we find time daily to enjoy the creativity, truth and beauty
they share with us. (18 October: St Luke, patron of artists)
We
pray with the Institute
Loving God, we thank you and praise you, for
your presence deep in our hearts as we gathered together to affirm our identity
and to celebrate our common vision. Give us the utter trust in your presence
that Mary Ward had, as we walk into the future.
For our new General Superior and her
Consultors. May they experience the power and love of God in their lives as
they embrace their new ministries of service in the Institute.
We give thanks to God and to our sisters in
Peru for their generous presence as they celebrate their first 25 years in the
country.
For the Provincials’ meeting of the Congregatio Jesu: in Sao Paulo,
Brazil. May they enjoy their time together and be open to the Spirit so that
with realism and creativity they may find ways to respond to the needs of the
world.

Choose Life
We believe that God has carried us
since our birth,
and we know that in our old age
when our hair is grey
God will continue to do so.
Let us allow God to shape us
through the “passivities of diminishment” so that we learn through our
bodies
the mysterious way
that God enriches us
through our limitations.
Let us rejoice that we can continue
bearing witness to the Gospel values which we have lived
and those which we now experience:
generosity, interiority and
time to savour life.
