is for God.

We pray with the Church and the world
August 9th International Day of the World’s Indigenous People
Let
us pray for our indigenous sisters and brothers in their search for identity,
dignity and recognition.
August 12th International Youth Day
As
we remember the young people of our world let us also support with prayer the
preparations underway for the World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia next year.
From
the International Apostleship of Prayer for this month:
“We
face a choice between a society where people accept modest sacrifices for a
common good, or a more contentious society where groups selfishly protect their
own benefits”. from Newsweek
Solving the crises that bedevil
society requires the replacement of the current ethic of individual rights with
an ethic of the common good.

Again, Bishop Kevin Dowling reflecting on our Calls at the
Provincials’ meeting said this about communion:
This focus on individualism and on personal autonomy and
development as a life project, especially in the Western world, has led to the
demise of the awareness that we become most fully a person in so far as we are in
a relationship of respect and reverence with others.
However,
there seems to be a slow but growing appreciation that personal identity and
worth can only grow to their fullness through communion with others. We are
created for relationship; we become more fully who we are as a unique
individual through the way this uniqueness is moulded by the human experience
of living and interacting with others, in other words through mutual interdependence.
One
Small Voice
…speaking the truth in
love
we are to grow up in
every way
into Him who is the head,
into Christ,
from whom the whole body,
joined and knit together
by every joint
with which it is
supplied,
when each part is working properly,
makes bodily growth
and builds itself up in
love.
Ephesians 4: 13-16
