We pray with the Church and the world

That people with learning disabilities be loved and respected so that they can live life to the full. (Apostleship of Prayer)

That Institutes of Consecrated Life, faithful to the radical choice of the Gospel, bear witness to the ends of the earth. (Apostleship of Prayer) (2nd Feb: The Presentation of the Lord)

World Cancer Day is marked to raise awareness of the global impact of cancer and increase understanding of prevention, detection, treatment and care. We pray for all those we know living with the challenges of cancer and all who care for them.  (4th Feb: World Cancer Day)

For all who work with the sick and elderly. May God bless them with understanding, compassion and gentleness in their ministry. (11th Feb: Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes)

We pray with the Institute

On February 1st the 40th Session of CEDAW (Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women) completes its meeting in Geneva.

Our Call 3 says our action will be to challenge the misuse of power, especially as it affects women in the church and world. Let us pray for our sisters who work in this field, especially those who are threatened and endangered for the stand they take.

That as we attend to the deeper place to listen to the passion of God and wrestle with the meaning of religious life today (Call 1) we will take time to stay in the silence so necessary to hear the whispering of God in our situations today.

One Small Voice

Lord, lover of life,

you know the depths of

my innermost self,

and you understand me.

You protect me on every side,

shielding me from all harm.

When you put me together

carefully

in my mother’s womb,

you knew all about me.

I thank you for

the wonder of myself

and I stand in awe

at all that you have made.

Guide me in your ways.

From Psalm 139
