We pray with the Church and the world

The Pope’s intentions this month:

That Christians engage with the arts and the media to further a culture which promotes human values

That the Blessed Virgin Mary may guide Christian missionaries throughout the world with maternal affection.

Of the many United Nations International Days we especially remember three:

International Day of Families on May 15.  Let us ask God’s blessing on all who work to support families, especially those ministering in difficult situations of domestic violence and estrangement.

World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development on May 21.  Our second call invites us to ‘seek ways to claim more fully the richness of our intercultural, international reality’.

International Day of UN Peacekeepers on May 29. We keep in mind all those who work for peace – in nations, families and communities.

We pray with the Institute

Let us continue to support with prayer our IBVM and CJ communities who live in the midst of uncertainty, conflict or war.  At this time we especially remember the communities in Albania, Zimbabwe, Kenya and East Timor.

As we remember the anniversary of Teresa Ball on May 19 we pray that each one of us may be open to the passion of God and the passion for humanity – and seek relevant ways to witness to our ‘relational God who is generous in gift, equality, diversity and outreach’.

One Small Voice

Thank you God

for the strong colours of Pentecost -

colours of love and longing

wildness and wisdom,

challenge and compassion.

So colour our lives by

your mighty Spirit,

that we change

find courage,

radiate hope,

for this is thanksgiving

more precious than words.
