We pray with the Church and the world

For the Pope’s intentions this month:

That Christians cultivate a personal friendship with Christ so that they may convey his great love to those they encounter.

That the International Eucharistic Congress in Quebec, Canada, may deepen our understanding of the Eucharist, the heart of the Church.

June 5 is World Environment Day with the theme this year Don’t Desert Drylands.  We pray for the peoples of many countries now facing severe water shortage and lessened food production.

June 20 is World Refugee Day.  We pray for those who do not just flee persecution and war but also injustice, exclusion, environmental pressures, competition for scarce resources and all the miserable human consequences of dysfunctional states.

We pray with the Institute

We pray for the ongoing reflection around our Constitutions. May we support in prayer those who continue to re-write and edit. We give thanks for the untiring work of the Central Constitutions Committee who have prepared the steps for us and reflected on the responses over these past years.

Maria Lopez begins as General Secretary this month, assisted part-time by Cristina StirpeEileen Linehan leaves the office and begins her sabbatical soon.  Let us pray for each one as they serve our Institute with joy and energy.

For all us as we engage in the honest and sincere conversations which ask the deeper questions about the meaning and credibility of our life today.

Trusting in our “Parent of parents and friend of all friends”, we embrace the future with hope, calling each other to be courageous in promoting vocations to our way of life.  (GC Calls booklet p.3)

One Small Voice

Beloved, to Thee I raise my whole being,
a vessel emptied of self. Accept, O Lord,
this my emptiness, and so fill me with
Thy Self --- Thy Light, Thy Love, Thy
Life --- that these Thy precious Gifts
may radiate through me and over-
flow the chalice of my heart into
the hearts of all with whom I
come in contact this day,
revealing unto them
the beauty of
Thy joy
and
Wholeness
and
the
serenity
of Thy Peace
which nothing can destroy.
