We pray with the Church and the world

We pray for the Synod of Bishops' theme - ‘The Eucharist: Source and Summit of the Life and Mission of the Church’. May they find creative ways of providing opportunities for celebrating the Eucharist especially for the people of developing countries.
(October in Rome,)

We pray for the 80% of the world’s population who live in want. May we increase our desire this month to cut our waste and greed so that more people will have enough to live on. Let us make poverty history!
(17 Oct: Day for Eradication of Poverty)

We pray for all teachers. May they realize the significant role-model they are for students, and enthusiastically, care for and encourage the best in each one.
(5 Oct. International Teachers Day)

For all missionaries. May they continue to grow in respect for and understanding of the people with and for whom they minister.
(23 Oct: Mission Sunday)

We pray with the Institute

We rejoice and give thanks with the Irish Province for the Final Profession of Mary Burkart. May she continue cherishing her vocation and living it with joy and gratitude.
(22 Oct. in Rathfarnham)

We pray with Mary Ward: “May we do the ordinary things well and keep our Constitutions and all other things that be ordinary in every office or employment whatsoever it be. This, by God’s grace, will maintain our fervour.” (St. Omer 1617)
(9-16 Oct: Meeting of the CC in Wheaton, USA.)

For all of us as we continue the journey to G.C ‘06. May we move beyond our certainties to join the celebration of God’s creative venture Who is continually making all things new.

-- 26 Oct: G.C ‘06 meeting in Rome)

One Small Voice
Growing older, but not old

God, I cannot hide my fears from you;
I do fear ageing because sometimes
I feel so fragmented and stretched
in different directions,
that I get scared.

Let me learn, God of Life,
that neither am I too old nor is it ever
too late to do something.

Let me remember that Jesus blessed
the little things,
the cup of cold water, the widow’s mite
and the little acts of kindness.

Source of all joy,
help me to chuckle each day over some
incident or some story I hear.
Let there always be the sound of laughter in my life.
(1 Oct. International Day of Older Pesons)
