You have made known to me
the paths of life
You will fill me with joy
in your presence

TRASNA

Raphael Considine PBVM

The pilgrims paused on the ancient stones
In the mountain gap.
Behind them stretched the roadway they
had travelled .
Ahead, mist hid the track.

Why go on? Is life not short enough?
Why seek to pierce its mystery?
Why venture further on strange paths, risking
all’
Surely that is a gamble for fools – or lovers.
Why not return quietly to the known road?
Why be a pilgrim still?
A voice they knew called to them, saying:
This is Trasna, the crossing place.
Choose! Go back if you must,
You will find your way easily by yesterday’s
fires,
there may be life in the embers yet.
If that is not your deep desire,
Stand still. Lay down your load.
Take your life firmly in your two hands,
(Gently… you are trusted with something
precious)
While you search your heart’s yearnings:
What am I seeking? What is my quest?
When your star rises deep within,
Trust yourself to its leading.
You will have the light for first steps.
This is Trasna, the crossing place.
Choose!
This is Trasna, the crossing place
Come !

We pray with the Church and the World

From the words of Pope Francis:
“How can it be that it’s not a news item when an elderly homeless person dies of exposure but it is news when
the stock exchange loses two points?”

Universal: Human solidarity: That the aged, marginalized, and those who have no one may find – even within the huge cities of the world – opportunities for encounter and solidarity.

Evangelization: Seminarians and Novices: That Seminarians and men and women entering religious life may
have mentors who live the joy of the Gospel and prepare them wisely for their mission.

15th June: World Elderly abuse Awareness Day: “The distressing crime of elder abuse often occurs in quiet, private settings, making a vocal, public response that much more important. Let us strengthen our resolve to end this problem as part of our broader efforts to create a life of dignity for all” (UN General Secretary)

We pray with the Institute

Let us remember in a special way our Sisters from India who will be making their final vows in the Institute: Edelin Kujur, Sushila Tirkey, Baishakhi Mondal and Priyanka Topno on the 18th June. Baiadamary Lyngkhoi, Prabina Rudum, and Mable Rudum on the 11th June.

We remember the Province Leaders and Institute Leadership as they continue their meeting in Llandudno, that they may be inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit.

As Mary Ward’s companions… as women of light… moved by the person of Jesus and the needs of our world today… let us continue to seek:

  • to reclaim the freshness of the Gospel allowing
    Jesus to transform our lives;
  • to bring those forced to live in poverty to the
    centre of our lives and ministry;
  • to go where the need is greatest;
  • to live sustainably, discerning what is
    enough; and
  • to create oneness that moves us beyond
    boundaries.

Acknowledging vulnerability and fragility, we turn to Jesus knowing that
all we need we will find in Him” (Mary Ward).
