July HOP 2014 English
We pray with the Church and the World
From the words of Pope Francis: I have a dogmatic certainty: God is in every person’s life. God is in everyone’s life. Even if the life of a person has been a disaster, even if it is destroyed by vices, drugs or anything else—God is in this person’s life. You can, you must try to seek God in every human life. Although the life of a person is a land full of thorns and weeds, there is always a space in which the good seed can grow. You have to trust God.
July 11th is World Population Day aims to raise awareness of global population issues. Hunger, disease, warfare, welfare and human rights are key themes.
July 30th is the UN International Day of Friendship. International Day of Friendship highlights friend-ship between peoples, countries, and cultures that can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities. The UN wanted for the day to involve young people as future leaders, in community activities that include different cultures and promote international understanding and respect for diversity.
One Small Voice
We should zealously endeavor to be grateful to our benefactors,
loving towards our enemies,
obliging to our companions,
and courteous towards every one.
We pray with the Institute
As many young people in our schools and colleges take exams and then vacations at this time of the year we pray their efforts will be rewarded and their holidays safe.
Let us pray for the joint CJ/IBVM house in Manila, the Philippines. For all those members who will be associated with it as they study in Manila and for those who offer hospitality and friendship.
Continue to pray for those preparing for the General Congregation in Loyola, Spain in September that the Spirit of God will inspire their reflection and preparation.
We pray for our sisters, both CJ and IBVM, in places of conflict and war, disaster and violence: Bangladesh, Chile, Israel, South Korea, Russia and the Ukraine, South Sudan.
Let us pray
out of our weakness we turn to your wonderful, cleansing, gracious power.
Deeper than our doubts we trust your promises,
and so we pray for others we bear on our hearts.
Comfort those who recently experienced the chill of sorrow.
Fill the emptiness of those who feel forgotten or forsaken.
Strengthen those who await the results of medical tests,
and heal the bodies and spirits of those who are sick or injured.
Abide with those whose days on earth dwindle down to a few and grant them peace and the confidence that nothing can separate them from your love
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
