Pope Francis has told farmers that in a world marked by wastefulness and extreme climate change, they have the important vocation of caring for the earth and providing for all of humanity. “Care for the earth, making alliance with it, in order that it may continue to be, as God wants, the source of life for the entire human family,”
We pray for Linda Charles our new Province Leader in Mauritius that she and the members of the Mauritian Province may continue to respond with openness to the challenges of our world today.
We remember in prayer all who are persecuted for their faith and have lost their lives as a result of violence and war, especially in Syria, Yemen and Brussels.
We pray for those who have lost their homes and are seeking refuge in other countries.
Call 5: That we may let the calls beckon us to change and stretch us to move across boundaries…be it mentally, physically or psychologically….
Const 2:5 ‘With single-hearted commitment of love, we willingly accept availability and mobility…holding ourselves open to undertake in obedience whatever is for the greater glory of God and the good of our neighbour’.
Const 2:9 ‘We commit ourselves to building right relations with the earth and all creation allowing ourselves and our ministries to be transformed by what this demands.’
That day I saw beneath dark clouds the passing light over the water and I heard the voice of the world speak out,
I knew then, as I had before life is no passing memory of what has been nor the remaining pages in a great book waiting to be read.
It is the opening of eyes long closed.
It is the vision of far off things seen for the silence they hold.
It is the heart after years of secret conversing speaking out loud in the clear air.
It is Moses in the desert fallen to his knees before the lit bush.
It is the man throwing away his shoes as if to enter heaven and finding himself astonished, opened at last, fallen in love with solid ground.
