New IBVM Institute Leader Has Been Elected!
The Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary has elected a new Institute Leader. Following a time of prayerful discernment and conversation, delegates to the IBVM General Congregation have elected Sister Carmel Swords as the new Institute Leader.
Sister Carmel is the Province Leader in Ireland. She served previously as Principal and Deputy Principal for Loreto schools, and is a Mary Ward scholar, leading retreats, pilgrimages, and the summer school program for the Mary Ward Family.
She will lead the Institute for the next eight years and will forge the way through the process of Becoming One with the Congregation of Jesus.
Upon accepting the role of Institute leadership, Sister Carmel shared with gratitude the prayer a Sister sent shortly before the election:
Lord, may your hand be on the one you have chosen,
The one you have given your strength.
We invite all members of the IBVM and CJ and Mary Ward Family to celebrate this wonderful news and to join us in praying for Sister Carmel. In the coming days, delegates will elect the new Institute Leadership Team.

El Instituto de la Bienaventurada Virgen María ha elegido a una nueva Lider de Instituto. Después de un tiempo de discernimiento y conversación en oración, las delegadas de la Congregación General del IBVM han elegido a la Hermana Carmel Swords como la nueva Líder del Instituto.
La Hermana Carmel es la líder de la Provincia en Irlanda. Anteriormente fue directora y subdirectora de los colegios de Loreto, y es especialista en Mary Ward, dirigiendo retiros, peregrinaciones y el programa de la escuela de verano para la familia de Mary Ward.
Ella dirigirá el Instituto durante los próximos ocho años y forjará el camino a través del proceso hacia la unidad con la Congregación de Jesús.
Al aceptar el papel de liderazgo del Instituto, la Hermana Carmel compartió con gratitud la oración que una Hermana le envió poco antes de la elección:
Señor, que tu mano esté sobre la que has elegido,
