News items from the Institute Leadership Team Rome

July

Carmel visited our Sisters in the US from June 29 to July 15. Her first stop was Chicago where she was very warmly received and enjoyed open, honest conversations as she visited individuals and communities – Naperville, Western Springs and Carol Stream – and care residences (Casa Scalabrini, Mercy Circle, Resurrection Life Centre and St. Patrick’s).  On Thursday July 6, the leadership team hosted a reception at the regional office where Carmel met Mary Ward Companions, colleagues and employees. It was a social occasion enjoyed by all.

Next stop was Phoenix, where the sweltering temperatures were relieved by the great welcome and air-conditioning! There was meaningful conversation, sharing of stories and a celebration of IBVM vocation. On Wednesday July 12, there was a moving prayer service, with the Mary Ward Companions, on the theme of ‘salt of the earth’ and what that means today. The Sisters make such a contribution in the diocese. This was acknowledged by both the Phoenix pastor, Fr. Fernando Camu, and Bishop John Dolan, when they came to share a meal with the community.

During Carmel’s time in the U.S., two Sisters – Rosemary Lynch and Ellen Enright – joined the great cloud of witnesses. May they enjoy eternal rest and peace.

Geraldine, Kate and Mary visitation in Australia

June 2023

This week, Geraldine McAleer has been working with the Institute Leadership Team in Casa. Many financial topics were discussed – Loreto Generalate Fund, TBISF and investments as well as updates on various governance matters. Geraldine and Carmel also met with Veronica to consider financial practices and systems. The team are most grateful to Geraldine for her generosity and expertise.
