The IBVM arrived in the country in 1926 and St Teresa’s Girls’ Higher Secondary School was opened for Nepali girls. Today, there are IBVM sisters in Dharan, Darjeeling, Lolay and Sadam. They run different projects to help the local population, especially those traditionally discriminated, such as the Sukumbasi population.
